A Private Company owes Rf. 8 million to the former Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports

The ACC has investigated a case of a Private Company that has failed to clear the due payments to the former Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports. The Company has delayed its payment to the Ministry over a long period by withholding payments on work permit fees and fines in excess of Rufiyaa eight million to the government.
The Commission concluded the case on the grounds that the documents from the Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports reveals that the Company has imported foreign laborers to its associated companies for various works including unpaid work permit fees and fines that reached a substantial amount of Rf. 8,707,250.00 by 12th October 2010. Although regarding this matter, the Ministry has sent notifications to the Company on several occasions; the investigation finds that the Company has not made any payments. The work permit fees including fines has to be recovered to the government, under article 25 (a) (3) of Act No: 13/2008 (Anti-Corruption Commission Act). Hence, on 8th February 2016 ACC has sent recommendations to the Department of Immigration and Emigration to undertake actions accordingly
