The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has participated in the 7th session of United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Group held in Vienna, Austria from 20-24 June 2016. The official representative of ACC was Vice-Chairman, Uz. Muaviz Rasheed.
The session was aimed at discussing the efforts undertaken by the group to prevent corruption, and tackling the challenges faced while implementing the convention. It also deliberates on the guidelines to be followed and professional assistance needed when such works are to be undertaken. Furthermore, the session provided opportunity for global exchange of the reviews on the level of effort put in by countries to enforce the decisions made at prior sessions.
From the year 2016 onwards, the level of the compliance of the countries for Chapter 2 and 5 of the agreement is to be reviewed. Meanwhile, Maldives had earlier completed the first level of review and the second review is to be held in the year 2018. This review group is congregated to ascertain the implantation of the convention by the member countries.
