ACC held several vibrant events to mark the International Women’s Day on 8th March 2017. The female staff of the Commission were all given a red carpet welcome, by the Chairman of the Commission, other Commission members and the male staff of the Commission. Each female staff was also presented with a red rose.
A warm welcome was extended to the Minister of Family and Gender, Ms. Aminath Zenisha Shaheed Zaki, the Chief Guest of the ceremony held at the ACC to celebrate the day. During the ceremony, a recorded video presentation was played, in which the female staff expressed their sentiments on women’s day, their rights, and their status in the society. Furthermore, a speech was given by the sole female Member of the ACC, Ms. Aminath Minna, who highlighted on the importance of empowering women. The male staff of the Commission took a pledge during the ceremony to protect women’s rights.
As the last item for the day, a cake specially designed for the occasion, with this year’s International Women’s Day slogan “Be bold for change” on it, was cut by the Minister of Family and Gender, Ms. Aminath Zenisha Shaheed Zaki.
