Case completed on allegation that security services of the buildings built in Fuvahmulah Bandaarakili for the SAARC summit was procured without proper bidding

Anti-Corruption Commission has investigated a case addressed in the 2013 special audit report (number: SPE-2013-03) claiming, buildings which was built for the SAARC summit in Fuvahmulah Thundi area and Bandaarakili’s security service was procured without proper bidding.
Investigation found that Fuvahmulah Thundi Cultural Village and Bandarakili security service was handed over no prior advertisement. However, total cost of this procurement was not more than MVR 25,000 (Twenty-Five Thousand Rufiyaa). As per the documents collected by the commission, there were no evidence revealing that the procurement process was carried out against the Public Finance Regulation’s section 8, article 14, which says three quotations has to be taken before the work is being assigned, if the work price range is between MVR 1,000 (One Thousand Rufiyaa) and MVR 25,000 (Twenty-Five Thousand Rufiyaa). In this case there are evidences which proves that procurement entity have taken 3 quotations according to the Public Finance Regulation.
Therefore, investigation did not find security service was procured to provide an undue advantage to a third party. Thus, this case was concluded under section 25 (a) (1) of Law number 13/2008 (Anti-Corruption Commission Act), stating there was no offence of corruption in the case.
