The closing ceremony for the National Anti-Corruption Conference has been held at the Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM) on 11th May 2017. The Conference was concluded with participants representing law enforcement authorities and government offices assenting and signing a petition to work together to eliminate corruption and promote integrity.
The Conference was carried out from 10th to 11th May 2017, during which a total of 11 papers were submitted by the 10 government offices who participated in the conference, focusing on overcoming the challenges faced in the course of preventing corruption. The participants signed a petition, pledging their support to implement the solutions that were discussed in the presentation and urging relevant authorities to play a key role in preventing corruption and promoting integrity in the society.
The National Anti-Corruption Conference was conducted as a joint effort by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM). Information Commissioner, Mr. Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakuru was invited as the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony. In addition to the Information Commissioner, speeches were delivered in the ceremony by Anti-Corruption Commission Member, Mr. Sofwath Mohamed, and IUM’s Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Ms. Hawwa Latheef. Lastly, certificates of recognition were given to government offices who participated and submitted papers in the conference, sponsors, and administrative staff, as tokens of appreciation for participation and overall assistance in making the conference a successful event.
