CSC presents paper on developing integrity in civil servants

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has presented a paper in the National Anti-Corruption Conference focusing on developing integrity in civil servants.

CSC stated that the Commission’s research demonstrated that certain factors such as lack of proper investigation and conviction in matters related to corruption, and inadequate salary and bonus lead to corruption. The research was conducted through questionnaires handed out to 106 employees from 25 different government offices working under Civil Service Commission. The main objective of CSC’s paper was to identify challenges to developing integrity in civil servants and discuss solutions to overcome those challenges.

The paper also listed out some form of corruption within civil service, as perceived by the participants of the survey, such as taking bribery, misappropriation of state funds, negligent handling of money and loss of funds, deliberate alteration of laws and regulations, and acting in contrary to the Public Finance Regulation.
