“Corruption in financial transactions occurs as a result of failure to obey established rules and regulations concerning such dealings.”
The statement was made by the Auditor General’s Office during a presentation at the National Anti-Corruption Conference. The presentation by the Auditor General’s Office was mainly focused on recognizing common issues that occur in government finances and finding ways to avoid and minimize such problems.
In addition, the presentation also observed some reasons as to why noncompliance to rules usually happen within government offices, such as low motivation by senior officials to work in accordance with the set rules and regulations, and poor accountability procedures practiced once a breach of rule has been discovered.
