ACC calls for inclusion of Legal authority in corruption prevention

“The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) should be given the legal authority to prevent corruption, as practiced elsewhere in the world.”

ACC’s call for legal authorization was made during the Commission’s presentation in the ongoing National Anti-Corruption Conference.  The main objective of ACC’s presentation was to provide a situation analyses of corruption in Maldives and to explain the National Integrity Plan and corruption prevention mechanism of the Commission.

In the presentation, ACC also observed several factors that could assist their work such as strengthening the accountability of government offices, working with clear and transparent mechanisms, and ensuring total avoidance when there is a case of conflict of interest to guarantee maximum transparency and to improve the effectiveness of the work done by government offices.
