“The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) does not incline to any kind of bias or partiality in investigating matters related to corruption”, said Mr. Hassan Luthfee, the Chairman of the ACC.
In his speech made during the inaugural ceremony of the National Anti-Corruption Conference, held at the Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM), the Chairman also reiterated his assurance that ACC would always work impartially and honestly in discharging the constitutional responsibilities vested to it.
Furthermore, dismissing the criticism subjected to the Commission due to ACC’s investigation visits to government offices with alleged cases of corruption, as well as by those summoned to the Commission for interrogation, the Chairman assured that ACC would not yield to any unfavourable judgement and would do everything in its legal capacity to investigate issues related to corruption.
The conference is a joint effort by ACC and IUM with the aim to provide the opportunity to open discussions with relevant law enforcement authorities and public institutions to identify challenges that arise in preventing corruption and to discuss ways to eliminate them.
