An awareness program has been held for members of civil society organizations in Addu City. The program was conducted on November 21, 2017 at the Addu City Council Hall.
The program was designed to provide information on the important role played by civil society organizations in establishing a corruption free society, the present level of corruption in the Maldives, and the adverse effects of corruption on society.
In addition, participants were also given information on the recently introduced social audit program initiated and designed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The social audit program was aimed at creating awareness on conducting a social audit on developmental projects to ensure maximum benefit to society, transparency, and accountability of state institutions. The awareness program also offered information on good governance and social accountability.
Members from a total of 7 different civil society organizations active in Addu City participated in the awareness program. The awareness session was conducted by professional staff of ACC.
