The Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives hosted official ceremony for the National Anti-Corruption day on 23rd April 2018. State minister, Dr. Abdulla Nazeer was the chief guest of the ceremony and in his speech he emphasized on the importance of seeking higher educational opportunities in the field of anti-corruption. He also noted that one should be determined to keep moving forward with anti-corruption initiatives despite working in this sector being a challenging task often disliked by many. Also, he called up on the staff to focus on obtaining results through honesty, loyalty, dedication and integrity. Speaking at the ceremony, he further said that the country is a trust conveyed to us by our ancestors and therefore, we should forward it intact to the future generations with integrity.
Speaking at the Ceremony, President of ACC Mr.Hassan Luthfee advised the staff to speed up the investigation and increasing the number of cases concluded. He called upon the staff to strive towards reducing the number of pending cases to 500 by the end of this year.
During the ceremony ACC’s Statistic book for 2017 was released. Also, ACC’s quarterly bulleting ‘Bithufangi’, handbook on training programs of ACC, and the official book of Anti-Corruption Conference 2017 were released during the ceremony. Moreover, the Commission launched its Social Audit Pilot survey report during today’s ceremony and a presentation was given focusing on the results of it. The social audit program conducted with financial assistance from UNDP involved a pilot survey on the eco-facility project of Fuvahmulah by the Ministry of Environment and energy. Furthermore, ACC’s staff with the best attendance, and staff with appraisal score higher than 90 marks were awarded certificates in the ceremony. Also, winners of the story writing competition were announced and certificates were awarded by Commission member, Mr.Sofwath Mohamed.
Apart from the Chief guest, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Energy, UNDP Program Officer, Commission members, Secretary General and staff were present at the ceremony. National Anti-Corruption Day is marked annually on 21st April.
