Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has registered a total of 124 cases in the second quarter of 2018.
ACC’s statistical data revealed that within the first six months of 2018, the commission has registered a total of 404 cases. Amongst these cases, 124 cases were registered in the second quarter of 2018. During the same period in 2017, a total of 152 cases were registered respectively.
All the cases registered at the Commission are examined under an evaluation process to precede investigations. Based on the number of cases registered, 110 cases were decided to investigate in 2018 while it was 99 cases in 2017 respectively.
Subsequently, if any cases lodged do not fall under the mandate of the Commission, such cases are referred to the respective public institution that has the relevant mandate. Likewise, 8 cases were referred to other institutions in 2018 while 6 cases were referred in 2017.
The Commission dismisses complaints that do not fall under the mandate of the Commission or provide sufficient information to process an investigation. Similarly, 16 cases were dismissed in 2018 while 26 cases were dismissed in 2017.
