The Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives hosted official ceremony of the National Anti-Corruption day on 21st April 2019. Information Commissioner, Mr. Abdul Azeez Jamaal Aboobakur was the chief guest of the ceremony.
During the ceremony, stories received for the integrity related story book writing competition was released. Also, ACC’s Statistic book for 2018, ACC’s quarterly bulleting ‘Bithufangi’, and the ‘Abaanna – Report’ book were released during the ceremony. Furthermore, an appreciative token was given for the dedication of ACC’s staff who delivered their service for consecutive 10 years.
Apart from the Chief guest, President of the Civil Service Commission Dr. Ali Shameem, Member of Election Commission Ismail Habeeb Abdul Raheem, Assistant Auditor General Aiman Mohamed, President of Employment Tribunal Ahmed Shifau, President of Maldives Media Council Hidhayathu’llah, Commission members, Secretary General and staff were present at the ceremony.
National Anti-Corruption Day is marked annually on 21st April, the day Anti-Corruption came into existence in the Maldives. The first agency established to combat corruption in the Maldives was a department in the President’s Office which came to form from a decree by the President in 1991, known as the Anti-Corruption Board.
