Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) has registered a total of 371 cases in the third quarter of 2019.
ACC’s statistical data revealed that within the first nine months of 2019, the commission has registered a total of 917 cases. Amongst these cases, 371 cases were registered in the third quarter of 2019. During the same period in 2018, a total of 135 cases were registered respectively.
All the cases registered at the Commission are examined under an evaluation process to precede investigations. Based on the number of cases registered, 364 cases were decided to investigate in the third quarter of 2019 while it was 103 cases in 2018 respectively.
Subsequently, if any cases lodged do not fall under the mandate of the Commission, such cases are referred to the respective public institution that has the relevant mandate. Likewise, 27 cases were referred to other institutions in the third quarter of 2019 while 8 cases were referred in the same quarter of 2018.
The Commission dismisses complaints that do not fall under the mandate of the Commission or provide sufficient information to process an investigation. Similarly, 41 cases were dismissed in the third quarter of 2019 while 22 cases were dismissed in the third quarter of 2018.
